Quá trình này cực kì hữu ích trong việc giảm mưa bão vì nó trả lại độ ẩm cho bầu khí quyển. Nhờ khả năng điều hòa, làm mát không khí mà ở những khu vực có cây xanh thì cư dân giảm thiểu được nhu cầu sử dụng năng lượng. Xung quanh các tòa nhà, văn phòng thường trồng cây xanh như một chiếc lược tạo bóng mát cho ngày hè cũng như cản gió lạnh vào mùa đông.
