Thủ phủ cam Quỳ Hợp và một số vùng cam lớn ở các huyện Nghĩa Đàn, Con Cuông, Tân Kỳ… những năm trước là vựa cam lớn của tỉnh Nghệ An nhưng nay đã bị chặt bỏ, diện tích còn lại không nhiều do sâu bệnh phá hoại và chất lượng giống kém. Nhưng, vẫn còn nhiều vườn cam ở các huyện Yên Thành, Thanh Chương, Anh Sơn, Nghi Lộc… vẫn trĩu quả, đang vào mùa thu hoạch.

Vùng cam xã Đoài xã Nghi Diên giá bán bao giờ cũng cao gấp nhiều lần so với cam ở nơi khác. Mặc cho giá cao, nhiều người vẫn muốn mua mà không có đủ hàng bán. Giá bình quân một quả cam ở đây không phải chỉ có năm nay mà năm nào cũng không dưới 70.000 đồng, có lúc lên đến 100.000 đồng/quả, nhất là những quả cam chín muộn vào dịp Tết Nguyên đán.
