Read the following passage and mark the letter A, B, C or D on your answer sheet to indicate the best answer to each of the following questions from 23 to 30.

Dying for a Selfie

Taking selfies is a common activity, whether it’s during special events, in beautiful locations, or on nights out with friends. Even world leaders are often photographed grinning at smartphone screens. However, in the quest to capture the most daring or shocking photos to share on social media, many people are putting their lives at risk, sometimes with tragic results.

For example, a Spaniard lost his life while taking a selfie during a bull run in his village, and a Singaporean tourist fell to his death from cliffs in Bali. In 2015, the number of selfie-related fatalities exceeded deaths caused by shark attacks, with most incidents involving falls from heights or posing dangerously with animals.

Despite these dangers, social media is full of photos featuring close calls. One widely shared image shows a woman narrowly avoiding being hit in the head by a baseball, captioned as the "most dangerous selfie ever." The photo received thousands of ‘likes,’ with comments praising her bravery. Shockingly, she even challenged others to take riskier selfies, disregarding the potential danger this poses to others.

In response to the increasing threats posed by the selfie, the authorities have started to take action. National parks, such as the Waterton Canyon in Denver, Colorado, have put up signs to warn visitors who have been getting too close to the bears to get them in the photo. The Russian Interior Ministry has launched a public education campaign advising selfie-takers against balancing on dangerous surfaces or posing with their pets, among other things. But if instructions like these are really necessary, then perhaps it is about time we asked ourselves which is more important, a ‘like’ or a life?
